Humbled and Grateful [Montgomery, Tx Photographer]

Typically my blog posts include photos of clients and the sessions that I do.  I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that's happened over the last year with my photography.  As I build my clientele, I see my pictures on their Facebook pages, received my images that I took come across Christmas cards in the mail, hanging in their homes, etc.  It is a very humbling experience and surreal to me.

Let me first explain that never in my life--up until this point--have I been "artsy" or creative.  Technical, sure, but I never recognized my artistic abilities all the while, they (or God) were slapping me in the face!

I remember the first time I got a camera.  My parents got me a Canon Elph (yep, forever and always I will be a Canon shooter)!!!  Following that, I got a Canon film camera (not sure of the model) and a second generation Elph.  They were my babies, and it devastated me when they came up missing.  More so, because of the pictures that were on there and the memories I will never have a digital trail (or paper trail) of.

Fast forward to last year--my husband got me a Canon Rebel.  I fell in love instantly and started this whole journey.  The extreme snow ball of what it has turned into is overwhelming (in a good way) and has brought on experiences that I never have found myself in before.

Words like, gifted, talented, genius, amazing, etc are not words that I am used to hearing about myself and it feels so surreal.  I often times ask my husband, "are they talking about ME?!"  And in all honesty, they aren't talking about me at all.  God has presented himself through me in this aspect of my life.  He has clearly laid his hand in this endeavor that I have fallen into and for that, it is so important to stay humbled and to stay grateful.

My gratitude goes to Him, most importantly, but also to all of my clients.  The journeys I have gone on with them, the unbelievable support and belief that has been shown by them, the confirmation that this is something that I need to pursue, and the encouragement from all of them is my engine that keeps me chugging along.  The friendships I have made through this are undeniable and really appreciated.  The patience that every single one of my clients has shown me, the support that I get from them are all things I will never forget.

So thank you to all!  I am forever indebted to you!

Off my soap box and on to editing! <3

Eli [Montgomery, Tx Family Photogrpaher]

So, have you ever had a client where they are just a dream?  Well, that was me last Sunday with little Eli.  He was so curious and smart and since we decided on Memory Park here in Montgomery, he had A LOT to look at and do!  I always try to gear my sessions that involve little toddlers to what they like to do.  This does involve a great deal of chasing and patience, but if you are ok with it, the pictures turn out wonderful.  Children at this age weren't built to sit still, so why make them?  Capture WHO they are, because after all, that's what pictures are for, right?  To remember moments in your life.  And what a precious moment this day was!  I am so grateful for the Hinkie family to share this little guy with me for a couple hours that day and I look forward to working with them in the near future, again! :)  I hope you guys love these pictures, because I sure do! <3

Project {Caleb 52}! [Montgomery, Tx Child Photographer]

So, as the second week passes of my Project {Caleb 52}, I realize that this was a HUGE decision that was going to impact my relationship with my son TREMENDOUSLY.  I strongly urge anyone that owns ANY type of camera (yes, that also means the phone cameras), to partake in your children's or significant other's lives and document those moments (even the little ones) each day/week/month.

The reason I feel so strongly about this, is because as I was collecting all my pictures over last week,  I realized that I had forgotten almost all of the images and moments that I captured!  It was like getting little presents all over again when I went to go through them and edit them!  This made me think--how many memories of my one and only child have slipped from my mind?  Too many up to this point, in my opinion.

I also realized that he LOVES our little adventures together, and he LOVES that he plays such a huge role in helping me with my work.  I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to spend this time with him and I will really try not to take those *little* moments for granted that I have with him.  And another observation that I made was that his face RARELY is clean! ha!  I guess it's a little boy thing! :)

As I reflect on the week and try to figure out what I was supposed to gain from all of our adventures together thus far, I realized that my job, and the most important job that I will EVER have, is to teach my son about his relationship with God.  And to truly be grateful for his life and one day his meeting with God.  A scripture I came across this week, that spoke to me was this: "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."  -Proverbs 22:6.  I pray that this will be the case with my little Caleb.

I hope you all love these pictures and I sincerely hope you enjoy looking at them!

Mandy & Dominic [Montgomery, Tx Family Photogrpaher]

So, Mandy and I have seen each other through my cousin, Tamara quite a bit.  From kids birthday parties to Scentsy parties, it's a wonder we didn't get together to do this before.  I always love to see everyone's face when they visit Memory Park (or Fernland Historical Park) for the first time.  It's a huge hit with everyone and of course, it is one of my FAVORITES to take pictures at.  We all had a blast this day, and they were so helpful and SO excited to get these pictures done.  With all these factors combined--VOILA!  Great pictures are made.  I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do!!
