Cutler! [Conroe, Tx Child Photographer]

So last week, I got the pleasure of spending the evening in Conroe with an old friend and her son, Cutler.  I stretched my imagination and branched out to do a style of photography that I normally don't do--urban!  And let me tell you what, I LOVED IT!  It also helps tremendously when the family is so photogenic and so willing to also stretch their ideas and bring them to the session as well.  I totally appreciate the opportunity it brings when my clients are so willing to trust me and go with what I have in mind, because as a photographer, you have a certain vision in your head and you imagine it over and over until what's in your head is projected on your camera!  And Tori and Cutler helped me to achieve just that for this session!

I also have had such a wonderful time exploring new locations with my son and husband--and this is one of them.  It brings so much inspiration and so much excitement to my photography world!

Thank you Tori and Cutler! <3  I hope everyone loves these pictures as much as I do! <3

Daily Dose of Caleb! [Montgomery, Tx Family Photographer]

So, January was my first relatively slow month since September.  Initially, I was a little nervous, especially since I got some new gear, but then I looked at it as an opportunity!  Now--rewind about a year ago.. the only reason I wanted a DSLR was so that I could get good quality images of my son.  Ones to put on Christmas cards, some to put in frames and put in my house, etc.

Well, over the course of a few months, I realized that I got so busy that I didn't stick to my initial plan.  So, I thought and thought and thought of a photo challenge that I could engulf myself into.  One that would stretch my mind, inspire me, generate ideas and hopefully bring me to a new level in my photography.  So none of the ones I came across struck me as one that I would be interested in doing.  And then it hit me.  An "aha" moment, if you will.

With this "aha" moment, I planned to--most importantly--spend some quality time with my son and go on adventures with him, find new locations that I think clients will be interested in doing some sessions at, and have documentation of my family's lives together.  So, there you have it.  I am going to TRY to take at least one picture a day of Caleb and our family.

Our days may seem boring to some, but they are magical to us.  For those of you with children, you know what I mean!  So, here's your daily dose of Caleb (and some family shots, with a little bit of some explanation pics so you have an idea of what we were doing that day) all of which are 3 days scrunched together in one post!  I hope you all love them as much as I do, but I am a little biased! ;)

I want to share a Bible verse that I see posted on my church's wall every Sunday that strikes me as a GREAT BIG "THANK YOU!" to God every time think about Caleb.  Here it is: "I will give thanks to You, for I (<-- insert my thoughts of Caleb there) am fearfully and wonderfully made!" -Psalm 139:14

Sarah Merchant! [Montgomery, Tx Portrait Photographer]

Ahhh, so where do I begin with little Mrs. Sarah?  It ALL began back in October 2004.  I had arrived to my first duty station in Utah, and Sarah and I shared a bathroom that connected our two rooms.  So we became roomies!  God had a plan.  He made sure that our paths crossed and I am ever so thankful for that.  It didn't stop there.  We were pretty much inseparable until she got orders to Korea.

In the military, often times, you will drift from people that you grow close to.  However that wasn't the case for Sarah and I.  We have seen eachother's ups and downs and have remained the best of friends that anyone could ask for.  Support, trust, knowing that we are there for one another when it feels like no one else is, honesty, etc.  We have done this for 8 1/2 years now and our friendship just grows stronger (isn't that amazing?)!  And I can't tell you how refreshing that is and how honored I am to call her my best friend!

We nearly talk everyday (one of us starts to worry about the other if we don't) and we have been blessed to live within 4 hours of one another.  On this trip she made out, it was spur of the moment and we had SUCH a great time.

When I sought out this whole photography gig, I vowed that I would see the beauty in people and capture just that.  The beauty of their lives, the beauty of their souls, the beauty of what they have created and the emotions that come along with that.  Sarah was SO easy because she is so beautiful inside and out.  With a little guidance, a little push to get out of the awkward phase of me shoving my camera in her face, and THIS is what her and I created.  Isn't it beautiful?! :)

Here is just about a 2 hour glimpse of our time together this weekend!  And don't forget to keep scrolling to see her babies, Nibbles and Scooter!  My two little nephews! ;)
